England Gearing Up For Tonga Semifinal

The English Lions are just one win away from reaching the finals of the Rugby League World Cup. If this is to happen, it will be the first time that England will be in the finals of a World Cup in 22 years. The Lions prop Thomas Burgess said that the team is fully aware of the situation they are in.

England is looking to wipe off the pain that they suffered in 2013 when they had to face defeat at the hands of New Zealand in a tight semi-final. The last semi-final in the Rugby World Cup against Kiwis was a heartbreaking one as they got defeated by Shaun Johnson’s brilliance in the dying moments of the game.

Jones Talks About Player Preparedness

Eddie Jones admits that many players being injured is affecting the preparations that the England team needs to do. The autumn internationals are coming up and several players being injured, the team is unable to prepare as they should. The training that the team underwent in Portugal resulted in minor injuries among three players; many have also arrived with knocks in the training camp this month. However, Eddie Jones, forever the formidable coach for the team, feels that the challenges are there for the team to adapt, adjust so that they can meet the upcoming challenges.

The autumn internationals will start with a game against Argentina on 11th November. The team has done more things off the field than they have done to train for the same. While Joe Launchbury has an injured knee, Jonny May has a hamstring injury; Marcus Smith is also suffering from a foot injury.
